What is die-cutting? What is the die-cutting material?

What is die-cutting? Literally, it means a model, mold, slitting, punching, etc. In short, it is a material that is punched and cut through a mold to create a certain shape! The broad definition of die cutting includes the molding and processing of all metal and non-metallic materials. Narrowly defined die cutting specifically refers to the molding and processing of various polymer materials such as paper, film, tape, foam, silicone rubber, and other non-metallic materials. We mainly introduce the narrow sense of die-cutting here, and its conceptual scope mainly includes the following points:

Die cutting studio: technological innovation is fundamental to all industries

The concept of die-cutting comes from a process or type of work in the printing industry. Die cutting was not a separate industrial industry in China at the beginning, it was just one of the processes in the printing industry, because label printing first required the label to be made into the required shape. So today, many large printing factories do both printing and die-cutting, and many die-cutting factory owners were originally from printing factories. In the early years of Shenzhen, some large Taiwanese owned printing factories trained many company owners in the die-cutting industry!

The reason why die-cutting can gradually develop into a separate industry category is due to the mobile phone industry. The rapid development of the smart phone industry has led to the rapid development of many consumer electronic products, and these products use a large number of functional materials that do not need printing but only die cutting, which has driven die cutting from a process in the printing industry to an industry Independência total. Therefore, some people say that the source of die-cutting is the processing of auxiliary materials for the mobile phone industry, and they interpret die-cutting more narrowly as a material processing method in the specialized mobile phone industry. This explanation is not entirely correct, but it makes some sense.

3. Die cutting is simply a material forming process. Therefore, from this point of view, it has the same purpose as injection molding, CNC machining, and other processes. Injection molding is the process of processing polymer particle raw materials into a shape, while CNC machining is the process of processing metal materials and polymer materials into a shape. However, the process is different from die-cutting processing, but the purpose is the same.

4. Die cutting belongs to the auxiliary industrial material industry. Die-cutting services are available for various products in various industries, including consumer electronics, heavy industrial equipment, home appliances, automobiles and aircraft, military equipment, and even bathroom hooks at home. It can serve almost all industries. Any product with structural and functional requirements may use die-cutting materials. Therefore, die-cutting belongs to the widely used auxiliary industrial material industry.

What is the die-cutting material? Through the basic introduction of die-cutting, everyone can understand that as long as the materials used for die-cutting processing belong to die-cutting materials! More precisely, it refers to non-metallic materials (excluding injection molding processes) that can provide insulation, heat conduction, conductivity, shock resistance, protection, bonding, sealing, and other functions in product functional or structural design! Usually the most common die-cutting materials, such as mobile phone and computer protective film, various Double-sided tape, various electrical furniture rubber pads, etc! The specific classification of die-cutting materials is as follows:

1、 Membrane materials: including various polymer membrane materials such as PET, PVC, PP, PC, PTFE, PERK, etc., and roll or sheet membrane materials with a thickness of less than 1mm processed from polymer particle raw materials. A thickness of less than 0.5 millimeters is a coil, a thickness of between 0.5 and 3 millimeters is generally a sheet, and a thickness of more than 3 millimeters is generally a sheet. Due to the technical scope of the die-cutting forming process, only film materials below 1mm can be considered as die-cutting materials.

2、 Paper materials: including various Kraft paper, highland barley paper, kuba paper, red steel paper, aramid paper, writing paper, Coated paper, synthetic paper, etc. The thickness division of paper materials such as rolls, sheets, and plates (which are relatively rare) is the same as that of film materials, while generally only paper materials below 1 millimeter can be considered as die cutting materials.

3、 Adhesive materials: including single side and double side adhesive tapes, substrate free adhesive tapes, protective films, release films and release papers with various film materials or paper materials as the base materials. As long as the adhesive material is processed through coating, it can be considered as a die-cutting material. Adhesive materials generally do not have sheet materials, and their thickness is generally below 0.5 millimeters, and most of them are below 0.2 millimeters!

4、 Other materials: including various silicone rubber, conductive materials, thermal conductive materials, dustproof mesh, foam EVA, pearl cotton, and so on. This block is mostly a functional structural material made of conductive materials, thermal conductive materials, and shockproof sealing materials. Their overall thickness range is higher than that of ordinary paper, film, and adhesive materials.
